Disclaimer: Dr. Cherian Abraham of Digestive Health Center of North Richland Hills, TX has not been accused of sexual assault and is a different person from the Cherian Abraham who has been accused of sexually assaulting three women on American Airlines flights.
Cherian Abraham Accused of Sexually Assaulting Three Women on American Airlines Flights
On March 24, 2025, Cherian Abraham was arrested on a single count of abusive sexual contact. A woman has accused Abraham of touching her without consent several times on an American Airlines flight, including on her breast.
This is not the first time Abraham has been accused of sexually assaulting a passenger on an American Airlines flight:
- On April 24, 2024, a woman submitted an incident report online to American Airlines, claiming that Abraham “violated” her on a flight. The woman claims Abraham touched her several times without consent, including between her legs.
- Another woman has alleged that on October 9, 2023, Abraham touched her thigh and/or left leg three times without consent. The woman allegedly reported the incident to a flight attendant and was moved to another seat. The woman allegedly declined to press charges.
If you have been groped or sexually assaulted on a flight by Cherian Abraham, contact us today to see if you have a claim and to seek justice so that American Airlines takes reports of in-flight sexual assault seriously. By calling us today and having the courage to share your story with us, you can make sure that what happened to you does not happen to others.
Don’t let this happen to another woman. Help us to get another predator off of commercial flights and out of the air. Help us hold Abraham accountable, and hold commercial air carriers accountable for failing to create a safe environment for passengers.
American Airlines had an opportunity to ban Abraham from future flights when a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her in 2023. They should have, but did not ban him. They then had another opportunity to ban Abraham from future flights when another woman claimed he sexually assaulted her in 2024. They again should have, but did not ban him.
Help us hold airlines accountable for:
- Failing to take passengers’ reports seriously
- Failing to ban predators from future flights by placing them on do not fly lists
- Failing to notify law enforcement about sexual assault claims
Call us today for a FREE, confidential consultation at (800) 718-4658 so we can hold Abraham and American Airlines accountable for their actions and make sure what happened to you doesn’t happen to another woman.
American Airlines Has Been Sued Over Sexual Assaults in the Past
This is not the first time that American Airlines has been accused of not doing enough to protect passengers from sexual assault.
One lawsuit against American Airlines alleges that after a passenger told a flight attendant that the man sitting next to her masturbated for about 60 minutes, the flight attendant brushed her off, replying that “men just do stuff like that.”
Another lawsuit alleges that after an American Airlines flight attendant reported that a celebrity chef sexually assaulted her on a work trip, American Airlines, instead of supporting her, mishandled the situation, deposing her best friends, deposing her ex-boyfriend and asking her mother personal questions.

Compensation for Sexual Assault
Our sexual assault lawyers are aware that sexual assault survivors have many reasons to call us.
As an example, those who pursue sexual assault lawsuits can become a critical source of change in the community. Survivors can become forces behind change by filing civil lawsuits – change which could prevent others from being sexually assaulted.
In addition, holding perpetrators responsible for sexual assault can give survivors the justice, empowerment and closure they deserve.
However, survivors of sexual assault can also recover financial compensation from the damages they suffered, such as:
- Emotional and psychological harm: Survivors might end up with significant mental, emotional and psychological damage from sexual assault, like post-traumatic stress disorder. We can help you recover compensation for these intangible damages.
- Financial harm: If sexual assault you have suffered has led to any financial losses later on, like lost wages from having to take time off from work for the sake of your mental health, we can help you recover compensation for this.
- Medical expenses and therapy: Survivors are often affected by sexual assault for the remainder of their life. They may need therapy or long-term medical care to deal with trauma. We can help you recover compensation for these things.
- Punitive damages: Civil claims sometimes result in punitive damages being warded when gross negligence, extreme recklessness or malicious intent occurred. If you call us and let us help you with your sexual assault case, you may qualify for punitive damages.
What compensation you may qualify for and how much compensation you may qualify will depend upon your case’s individual circumstances. We can evaluate your case thoroughly during a free, confidential consultation to help you calculate your case’s value. After that, we can help you and file a claim against all responsible parties to pursue justice and fair compensation on your behalf.
We will do everything and anything necessary to maximize your financial compensation, including, if necessary, trying your case in court. We can help you maintain your privacy through the whole legal process, including during a trial.
How We Gather Evidence in Sexual Assault Cases
Our attorneys will collect all evidence we can from authorities and health professionals. We’ll also accept any evidence you may have gathered. Evidence could include:
- Testimony from you, witnesses or the perpetrator
- Medical reports
- Items from the scene of the sexual assault
- Police reports
- Photographs
- Clothing
- Diary
- Criminal history
Our lawyers will talk to you about your case and decide what evidence to gather. Subpoenas are often necessary to get reports from police or medical professionals, and our lawyers have experience filing all documents needed to recover evidence.
The Lasting Effects of Sexual Assault
Sexual assault is a painful, traumatic experience. It can leave its survivors with long-term, life-changing damage. The illnesses and disabilities which result could lead to decades of treatment and therapy. It is common that survivors can’t access the treatment needed to give them the health and peace they need for a normal life.
Survivors typically suffer from mental illnesses and impairments of varying severity. The conditions they can suffer from include:
- Eating disorders
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Anxiety disorders
- Somatic disorders
- Personality disorders
- Relationship and intimacy issues
Sexual assault survivors often suffer physical symptoms as well. Studies show that survivors of sexual assault have a higher risk of generally suffering from ill health. Many survivors suffer from issues which relate to:
- Obesity
- Pain
- Gastrointestinal health
- Gynecologic or reproductive health
- Cardiopulmonary symptoms
Survivors of sexual assault commonly treat these conditions and illnesses for their whole lives. Great expenses are dealt to them and their families. We believe that perpetrators and their enablers should get held accountable for these expenses, so we fight to recover compensation for survivors of sexual assault.
What Should I Do if I Was Sexually Assaulted?
The steps to take after your sexual assault will depend on your assault’s circumstances. Your top priority should be to preserve your safety and well-being. You might be in shock and feel outraged. You could feel overwhelmed, too.
If you are a victim of a criminal act, call the police so the person who sexually assaulted you can be subject to criminal prosecution. It is important to call the police because when you call them, they can help to preserve evidence.
It’s vital to take time and mentally process your trauma. Talk to people you trust. Seek assistance from professionals. Seek help from someone who is trained in helping survivors of sexual trauma. Make sure you have a safe space where you can learn how to process trauma in order to reduce the impact on your mental health.
Consider the legal options you have if you haven’t contacted a lawyer yet. Many survivors already know they want to take legal action, especially when a criminal act took place. However, it is not always clear to all survivors what to do. Talking with one of our attorneys can help you by giving you a sense of empowerment and clarity. We have handled countless sexual abuse and assault cases and are equipped to help you pursue justice to the full extent of the law.
