Nadrich Accident Injury Lawyers is filing medical sexual abuse lawsuits on behalf of those who have been sexually abused by Dr. Mark Mulholland, a Richland, WA-based OB-GYN who practiced for over 20 years at Kadlec Regional Medical Center and Providence St. Joseph Health.
Sexual abuse by healthcare providers is more widespread than most patients realize. A 2016 investigation found more than 3,100 U.S. physicians were disciplined for sexual misconduct between 1999 and 2016. In addition, the Federation of State Medical Boards documented nearly 800 physician sexual misconduct cases between 2018 and 2022.
Dr. Mark Mulholland sexual abuse lawsuits have been filed by over 100 survivors, alleging:
- Sexual abuse
- Inappropriate touching
- Degrading comments
- Non-consensual sterilization
Additional survivors are continuing to come forward.
A formal Statement of Charges was issued against Dr. Mulholland in April 2025 by the Washington Medical Commission, and his license is currently under investigation.
Survivors of sexual abuse in healthcare settings often face barriers to reporting their abuse due to trust and authority given to providers, and lawsuits are alleging that Kadlec Regional Medical Center knew about Dr. Mulholland’s inappropriate sexual behavior since 2001 and ignored it.

Overview of the Sex Abuse Allegations Against Dr. Mark Mulholland
Dr. Mark Mulholland, a former OB-GYN based in Richland, Washington, is the subject of numerous civil lawsuits alleging decades of sexual abuse and professional misconduct.
As of early 2026, at least 18 lawsuits have been filed against Mulholland, with law firms representing more than 100 survivors.
Dr. Mulholland allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments to female patients and exhibited a lack of appropriate boundaries during medical consultations. Sexual abuse survivors reported that Dr. Mulholland’s procedures felt unnecessarily invasive, painful, or sexual in nature, violating accepted standards of practice.
The Washington Medical Commission issued a statement of charges against Dr. Mulholland on April 29, 2025, detailing allegations of unprofessional conduct. In September 2025, the Washington Medical Commission restricted Mulholland from treating or consulting on cases involving female patients.
At least two criminal complaints have been filed against Mulholland with the Richland Police Department as of late 2025.
Seven new sexual abuse lawsuits were filed against Providence Health & Services and Kadlec Regional Medical Center on January 13, 2026.
A History of Complaints Against Dr. Mulholland
Lawsuits allege that there is a long history of complaints from former patients against Dr. Mulholland. The lawsuits allege that many of these complaints were reported directly to Kadlec, Kadlec’s clinic, or officials with Providence.
A patient complained in 2003 that Dr. Mulholland inserted his fingers in her anus without medical reason or informed consent.
In 2012, a patient complained that Dr. Mulholland pulled her pants down, telling her that she had a “good body.”
A patient complained in 2013 that Dr. Mulholland shoved his fingers in her vagina for no stated or discernible medical purpose.
2016 saw a patient allege that Dr. Mulholland fully removed her fallopian tubes during a C-section without her knowledge, leaving her permanently sterilized against her will.
A patient complained in 2017 that Dr. Mulholland examined her vagina without wearing gloves, prevented her from getting up off of the exam table by pushing her back down via her pubic area, and grabbed her inner thigh.
A patient complained in 2018 that Dr. Mulholland conducted a pelvic exam without any informed consent, and stated the patient’s vagina was “nice.”
In 2020, a mother complained that Dr. Mulholland asked questions which were sexually inappropriate about the sex life of her 16-year-old daughter.
2020 also saw a patient report that Dr. Mulholland wouldn’t let her leave without a pelvic exam, and only let the patient leave when she threatened to dial 911.
In 2023, a patient complained that Dr. Mulholland made comments to her that were sexual and examined her internally so forcefully that she bled for several days.
Jane Doe 100
A lawsuit filed in August 2025 in Washington by “Jane Doe 100” alleges that Dr. Mulholland performed a breast “exam” without wearing gloves, and that the exam felt unusually thorough and long.
The lawsuit alleges that, while examining the woman’s vagina, he placed his gloveless hand on her thigh, told her “You’re perfect down there,” winked at her, touched her shoulder and asked the patient if she was single.
Jane Doe 101
A lawsuit filed in August 2025 in Washington by “Jane Doe 101” alleges that the plaintiff saw Dr. Mulholland after an ovarian cyst removal operation.
The lawsuit alleges that he told the patient he would check her then, without any further explanation, inserted his entire hand into her vagina.
Dr. Mulholland allegedly laughed when she cried out in pain, removing his hand then saying “I will only use two fingers.”
Dr. Mulholland then allegedly “wiped” the inside of her vagina with his fingers, removing his gloves, throwing them away then saying “Everything looks good. We are all done.”
Washington Department of Health Statement of Charges
A statement of charges filed in April 2025 makes several allegations about Dr. Mulholland, including allegations of sexual assault and sexually inappropriate comments.
The statement alleges that Dr. Mulholland posed questions about pain during intercourse which made the patient uncomfortable, and made comments, unrelated to medical care, about the characteristics and appearance of the woman’s vagina.
The statement alleges that Dr. Mulholland placed his hands near another patient’s buttocks to move her body, and touched her leg following the exam. It is alleged that he then told the patient he was eager to see her vagina and was looking forward to reuniting with her womb.
The statement alleges that Dr. Mulholland embarrassed another patient by loudly saying he heard that her vagina smelled unpleasantly, commented on the sexual performance of her husband, asked about the patient’s masturbation practices in a way that made her uncomfortable, rubbed her shoulder and commented on her sexual activity unrelated to legitimate medical care.
How Kadlec Regional Medical Center Ignored Patient Complaints for Decades
Complaints against Mulholland date back to 2001, hinting that institutions knew of his behavior for over 20 years but failed to act.
Attorneys allege that Providence Health & Services and Kadlec Regional Medical Center rationalized and minimized the abuse since at least 2005.
A lawsuit claims that a former patient and employee at Kadlec reported to an office manager that Mulholland made sexually inappropriate comments. The manager allegedly responded, “That is just Mulholland being Mulholland.”
Attorneys allege that a former doctor who worked with Dr. Mulholland for multiple years reported repeated sexually inappropriate incidents towards patients as well as staff to human resources and leadership at Kadlec, but Providence and Kadlec merely concealed the abuse.
In 2017, a patient complained that Dr. Mulholland had performed a “scraping” in her vagina without any explanation, and that this was painful, according to a lawsuit. The doctor she complained to allegedly told her, “We have heard that about him before.”
A patient complained to a Kadlec doctor in 2022 that Dr. Mulholland conducted a pelvic exam without any explanation, and stated he couldn’t feel anything since she was “fat,” according to a lawsuit. The doctor then helped the patient file an official complaint with Kadlec, which was apparently ignored.
Who Can File a Dr. Mark Mulholland Sexual Abuse Lawsuit?
Any patient who experienced sexual abuse, inappropriate touching or non-consensual medical procedures at the hands of Dr. Mulholland may qualify to file a lawsuit.
This includes both current and former patients of Kadlec Clinic, Providence, and any other facility where Mulholland practiced.
Civil sexual abuse lawsuits allow survivors to seek justice, hold institutions accountable, and begin the healing process.
Survivors can often file civil lawsuits under a pseudonym to protect their privacy.
Even if the abuse occurred years or decades ago, Washington law may still allow you to file, so speak with a lawyer today to see if you qualify.
Who Could Be Liable in A Mark Mulholland Lawsuit?
Parties who can be held liable in lawsuits over Dr. Mulholland’s behavior include:
- Dr. Mulholland
- Kadlec Regional Medical Center
- Providence Health & Services
Institutions can be held accountable if they failed to protect patients from known medical professionals who engaged in sexual abuse.
Civil sexual abuse lawsuits can reveal systemic problems within an institution, helping to create safer systems for future patients.
Legal theories against Kadlec and Providence include:
- Corporate negligence for failing to investigate or respond to patient and staff complaints
- Negligent supervision and retention of Mulholland despite known or knowable red flags
- Institutional liability for allowing abuse to continue over decades
Facilities have a legal duty to protect patients from staff misconduct. It appears that, in the case of Kadlec, Providence and Dr. Mulholland, this duty was repeatedly breached.
What Compensation May Be Available to Survivors?
Survivors of sexual abuse can pursue civil claims for damages, which may include financial compensation for emotional harm and other losses.
While this compensation can’t undo survivors’ trauma, it can restore power to survivors, punish abusers, and punish abusers’ enablers.
When we handle sexual abuse cases, we help survivors recover financial compensation for:
Pain and Suffering
Physical pain is one potential consequence of sexual abuse. However, this pain may be dwarfed by emotional or psychological suffering.
We can help you recover financial compensation for:
- Physical pain
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Emotional distress
- Loss of quality of life
- Traumatic memories
- Substance abuse used to deal with abuse
- Sleeping issues
- Loss of reproductive autonomy and quality of life if your case involves non-consensual procedures like sterilization
Each survivor handles trauma in a different manner. We will work with you as well as experts and mental health pros to identify each form of pain and suffering to recover compensation for.
Psychological Treatment
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says that sexual abuse can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
We help survivors recover compensation for treatments of psychological symptoms such as PTSD. This includes financial compensation for medications and counseling.
Medical Expenses
Emergency medical care might have been necessitated by your abuse. If you suffered serious injuries during your abuse, you might still be getting treated.
We’ll make sure you’re compensated for all medical costs which stem from the abuse you suffered, including past and future medical costs.
Professional Harm
Survivors are psychologically and emotionally affected by abuse. This can lead to difficulty working. Survivors can:
- Lose salary
- Lose wages
- Lose jobs
- Lose earning power
- Miss out on retirement contributions
- Miss out on bonuses
We’ll strive to recover financial compensation for each and every professional loss of yours.
Punitive Damages
We’ll assist you in recovering punitive damages in order to punish Dr. Mulholland for his abuse and punish Kadlec and Providence for covering up and enabling his abuse.
These punitive damages will help maximize your compensation. However, they’ll also prevent future patients from being abused by sending a message that covering up and enabling abuse will be harshly punished by the legal system.
What Is the Statute of Limitations for Sexual Abuse in Washington?
In Washington, survivors of sexual abuse have three years from the date of their abuse to file civil lawsuits, or three years from the date they discover the connection between their injuries and the abuse, whichever comes later.
Washington law allows for extended deadlines for childhood sexual abuse claims and may allow exceptions for adult survivors who later recognize the harm. Those who were abused as minors on or after June 6, 2024 in Washington may file a lawsuit at any time during their life. There is no time limit for these survivors.
Survivors of abuse which occurred as an adult, and survivors of abuse which occurred as a minor prior to June 6, 2024, may still qualify to file a lawsuit.
However, regardless of what the time limit is, it’s best to contact an attorney today if you were abused by Dr. Mulholland. Contacting a lawyer today:
