May 8, 2026 Update
A lawsuit filed on April 27 in California by a Colorado woman alleges that she was sexually assaulted by a Lyft driver sude to the company’s lack of considerations for passenger safety.
The lawsuit alleges the woman ordered a ride with Lyft in August 2024 since her own car wasn’t operable. However, it is alleged the driver started to ask her personal questions once she was in the vehicle.
Later on, the lawsuit claims, the driver pulled over, entered the back of the vehicle, threw her phone out of the vehicle and started to try to force her to engage in oral sex with him.
The lawsuit alleges she kicked him in the genitals, letting her escape and run. It is alleged she was hunted by the driver for a while while she hid until he gave up.
The lawsuit alleges she then found her phone and reported the assault to Lyft, who never responded.

April 8, 2026 Update
A lawsuit filed in California on March 23 alleged that a Texas woman was sexually assaulted in front of her children because of Lyft’s failure to implement basic safety features and monitor rides in progress.
The lawsuit alleges the woman became a victim of sexual violence in September 2023. Lyft Inc. is currently the only defendant named, but the lawsuit indicates that the driver will become a defendant once his identity is discovered from company records.
Lyft is currently facing around 30 similar federal lawsuits filed around the country.

A lawsuit filed on November 7 in Texas by an Oklahoma woman alleges that a Lyft driver sexually assaulted her because of Lyft’s decision to consciously disregard the safety of passengers by not implementing measures which may have prevented the unwanted sexual contact.
The lawsuit claims that the woman’s driver made sexual advances towards her, reaching over the seat in order to grope her genitals.

A lawsuit filed in California by a Maryland woman on April 17 alleges that a Lyft driver sexually attacked and harassed her because Lyft assigned vulnerable nighttime passengers drivers who weren’t adequately screened.
