Nadrich Accident Injury Lawyers is no longer actively retaining Dixie Fire victims. |

Dixie Fire legal actions against Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) are ongoing, with many victims still filing claims and lawsuits for compensation. PG&E has agreed to compensate victims, but they may be making unfair settlement offers, and many claimants are still waiting for their due compensation. Many people have turned to legal assistance with their cases.
If you or someone you care about is a victim of the Dixie Fire, you’re likely wondering how much money Dixie Fire victims will get. This will likely vary case by case, but a Dixie Fire attorney from our firm can give you an estimate and help you recover your due damages.
How Much Damage Did the Dixie Fire Cause?
Unfortunately, the Dixie Fire, which continued from July through October 2021, caused an estimated $1 billion in damages and cost hundreds of millions to combat, according to LA Times. In addition to that, there’s the extensive damage the fire caused to the environment, especially the local environment in Northern California.
According to The Mercury News, the fire burned almost 1 million acres in the counties of Butte, Lassen, Plumas, Shasta, and Tehama, and burned down the towns of Greenville and Canyondam and over 1,300 homes and other buildings. All this makes the Dixie Fire the second-largest wildfire ever in California.
Tragically, the fire killed three firefighters. This affects the lives of their family members, and countless other lives are affected by the damage the fire caused to people’s homes and communities.
Has PG&E Claimed Responsibility for the Dixie Fire?
According to PBS, PG&E has agreed to pay around $55 million for both the Dixie Fire and the 2019 Kincade Fire in Sonoma County. Also, the utility company will submit to five years of oversight from an independent monitor. This oversight will be similar to the supervision they had during five years of criminal probation after the company was convicted for a natural gas-related case in 2010.
The company’s federal probation ended in January 2022. Shortly after, U.S. District Judge William Alsup described the company as a “continuing menace to California” and urged state prosecutors to hold the company accountable.
As of May 2022, PG&E has not actually admitted any responsibility for the Dixie Fire, and they may have agreed to the Dixie Fire and Kincade Fire payment only to avoid criminal prosecution. PG&E has proven itself very irresponsible and negligent, and our firm’s wildfire and mass tort attorneys intend to hold them accountable.
Does the Fire Victim Trust Cover the Dixie Fire?
As of May 2022, the Fire Victim Trust does not cover the Dixie Fire, but this may change at a point. Currently, the Trust covers the wildfires in Northern California in 2015, 2017, and 2018.
Does PG&E Cover the Dixie Fire?
PG&E covers the Dixie fire. The company has an online claims portal for victims pursuing compensation, however, we don’t recommend using this portal.
If you pursue compensation directly from PG&E via the portal, they could diminish your case, undervalue your damages, and lowball your settlement offer. You may find it difficult to negotiate with the company as well. You may be unable to recover the compensation amount you deserve.
You don’t have to talk to PG&E at all. Instead, connect with our firm. We can pursue compensation on your behalf, valuating your damages fairly, protecting you from PG&E’s tactics, and negotiating a fair payout for you.
What Damages Can I Claim in a Dixie Fire Lawsuit?
If you lost property or had other losses due to the Dixie Fire (or due to a mudslide caused by the Dixie Fire), you can demand these losses in your lawsuit. One of our firm’s Dixie Fire attorneys can help you list your damages and then file your suit. In your list of damages, you may have:

- Costs related to your evacuation during the fire
- Lost wages due to injury or another issue
- Medical expenses
