2022 Ford Recall Lawsuits

The vehicle recall lawyers at Nadrich & Cohen are actively retaining injured victims of recently recalled Ford vehicles that can roll after being placed in park.

Ford recently recalled 2.9 million vehicles because they can roll while in park. The recall applies to:

  • 2013-2019 Escapes
  • 2013-2013 Fusions
  • 2013-2018 C-Maxes
  • 2013-2012 Transit Connects
  • 2015-2018 Edges

California law allows for those who are injured by defective products to obtain financial compensation in a lawsuit from the manufacturer of the defective products.

We have been representing victims who were injured by defective products since 1990 and have recovered over $350,000,000 on behalf of clients in that time. We are experts at proving that product defects caused our clients to be injured.

What Can I Be Compensated for in a Lawsuit Against Ford?

If you’ve been injured by one of the recently recalled Ford vehicles, you may be eligible for financial compensation in a lawsuit against Ford. The monetary compensation paid to plaintiffs for losses in lawsuits is known as damages. You may be eligible to recover several types of damages, such as compensation for:

  • Medical bills: If you have been injured by a Ford vehicle, you are likely facing medical bills relating to the treatment of your injuries. You may qualify for compensation for all past medical bills as well as any future medical bills it can be reasonably estimated you will incur.
  • Pain and suffering: Injuries can be painful, both physically and mentally, and you may qualify for compensation for any physical and mental pain and suffering you have endured due to your injuries.
  • Lost wages: Your injuries may have caused you to miss time from work, and you may be eligible to recover any money you were unable to earn at work due to your injuries.
  • Lost earning capacity: If your injuries have caused you to be permanently unable to do your current job or work at all, you may be eligible to recover damages for your loss of earning potential.
  • Property damage: If your Ford vehicle was damaged when it rolled after being put in park, you may be eligible for compensation for the damage to your vehicle.

Under CA Civil Code 1714.45, California law holds vehicle manufacturers strictly liable for any injuries caused by their defective vehicles. This means that it doesn’t matter if the defect was caused by the manufacturer’s negligence or not. If the vehicle is defective and its defect caused you to be injured, the manufacturer is financially liable for your injuries.

Ford vehicles were recently recalled because the bushing attaching the transmission to the shift cable may detach or degrade, preventing the shifter from placing the transmission in the intended gear position. The transmission might not actually be in the park position despite the shifter position indicating that the vehicle is in park.

Drivers do not receive an audible chime or a warning message. Exiting the vehicle when the transmission is not in park while the parking brake is not applied can allow vehicles to roll, increasing the risk of crash or injury.

The root cause of this defect is unknown, although Ford said humidity and heat may contribute to the bushing material hydrologically breaking down. If the vehicle’s ignition state is on, the instrument panel may show the correct gear state of the transmission, which might not match the position of the gear shift lever.

How Much Do Ford Recall Lawyers Cost?

The experienced defective vehicle lawyers at Nadrich & Cohen represent victims of defective, recalled vehicles on a contingency fee basis. This means that the only fee that we charge our clients is a percentage of any financial compensation we obtain from them.

We do not charge a fee if we don’t obtain a financial recovery. In other words, you won’t be charged if we don’t win your case, and you will never owe us an upfront fee or any money out of pocket.
